Find a leader that motivates and inspires you and understand what makes them a good leader. This may be someone already in your organisation, a leader in the wider business world or even a celebrity. Measure your level of skill and ability against theirs, work hard to understand the dynamics and close the gap.
Be open to criticism and learn from it. Take all feedback as an opportunity to learn whether it is from your superiors, peers or subordinates. Trust yourself and do what you think is right, it’s only by making your own mistakes that you will learn.
Remember to be a good leader you must be able to effectively communicate, effectively manage your team and ensure you team remains on side by not abusing your newly appionted role.
