Who is Peter Tuvey?

A seasoned entrepreneur in the business and consumer lending spaces, our co-founder and CEO Peter Tuvey is one of the brains behind the Fleximize operation. Away from ruling the roost at Fleximize HQ, Tuvey enjoys taking in the sand, sea and sangria of Tenerife, spending time with his children and tearing his hair out at Arsenal’s transfer policy.

As CEO of Fleximize, Tuvey has a hands-on approach, working closely with all departmental managers on a day-to-day basis to ensure operations run smoothly. He's not afraid to jump straight into any part of the business, if and when required.

Tuvey has been, and will continue to be, a key figure in the development of the Fleximize brand. He has been central to developing intelligent underwriting, efficient loan-processing software, simple product sets that work for small businesses, and bringing new revenue streams into the company.

Regularly featured in the business press, Tuvey is a contributor to Business Zone, where he has discussed topics such as the bank referral scheme. As well as being profiled by startups.co.uk and is4profit, Tuvey also shared his thoughts on how business owners can encourage innovation in an article for The Telegraph.

Since launching the company in 2014 with co-founders Max Chmyshuk and Daniel McPherson – who he met through mutual investments – Tuvey has helped grow Fleximize into a business with over 40 employees. To date, it has lent over £200 million to more than 800 businesses.

What did Peter Tuvey do before he launched Fleximize?

Tuvey’s working life started at the age of 16 when he left school to take a sales role at Homebase in Bury St Edmunds. He then joined Phones4U, where he became the company’s youngest ever store manager at the age of just 17. By the time he was 19, Tuvey was working as an area manager for Vodafone.

After a period of time in the claims management and insurance industry, Tuvey moved into the consumer lending sector, helping to set up The Fortress Group and then founding Ariste Holding, which he built into an organisation of over 100 staff and 300,000 clients.

Launching his first company with a small group of employees, Tuvey knew he had to work quickly to exploit the opportunity he had found in a fast-paced market. He worked hard to build the business from the ground up, with his entrepreneurial spirit proving the driving force behind the success of the company.

Tuvey was instrumental in the development of a bespoke underwriting suite and process, which was implemented and managed by a long-term friend, while an off-shore development team developed both the database and website from scratch. He also built teams and processes for debt collection, risk, compliance and marketing.

Following the sale of Ariste Holding to the U.S. firm EZCORP in 2012, Tuvey launched Fleximize in January 2014. And the rest, as they say, is history.
